Focus of the study programme

The one-and-a-half year master's programme in Media Conception comprises 90 credit points according to ECTS. Its interdisciplinary orientation creates the basis for a profound understanding of even more complex media, social and economic contexts.

In addition to the required specialist skills, the key qualifications of scientific work are deepened in methodological, social and personal skills. Focus is given to the challenges and opportunities of innovative media technologies and media applications.

Media development for the digital change

Today, media have developed into complex systems. They have become more interactive, networked and collaborative. Classical mass media, Internet media and mobile applications no longer work individually but in combination with each other for increasingly demanding target groups. Due to more complex economic and social contexts as well as significant changes in the media system, a professional conception of cross-media content and applications is becoming increasingly important for medium-sized companies, medium-sized organisations and freelancers.

This is why the degree course "Media Conception" focuses on current and future innovations in the field of audiovisual media, which are developing in the context of the ongoing media evolution.

In order to enable the conception of innovative media applications and contents, students will be provided with comprehensive and detailed knowledge about the evolution of media, their aesthetics, paradigms of use and reception as well as media theories, which, in addition to reflecting on current conditions, have also dealt with the anticipation of new media forms. If these theoretical considerations are combined with the analysis of concrete best-practice examples, these theoretical skills can flow into an explicitly theory-driven development of media concepts and finally into a media prototype.

The master's programme "Media Conception" aims at the education of future executives who must have the appropriate skills to deal with the above-mentioned media connections.

With this versatile, theoretically sound and practice-oriented education, graduates are able to take on a central role in the creation of complex media applications. With the skills acquired during your studies, you will be ideally prepared for the diverse requirements of a challenging job in a leading position. The in-depth knowledge and the theoretical, methodological and social skills and abilities acquired during the course of study open up many fields of activity for you:

  • publishing houses
  • multimedia Agencies
  • media production companies (TV, radio, print)
  • digital format development
