Career Promotion for Women

The equal opportunities body places a specific focus on women’s career support. Particular attention is paid to career perspectives for potential academic leadership positions for women in general as well as the promotion of young scientists with regard to specific qualification requirements for a university of applied sciences professorship in particular.

The UAS Kiel aims to increase the number of women in leading academic positions in the long term by promoting junior staff and increasing the percentage of women at all qualification levels. In concrete terms, this means on the one hand increasing the number of female students in areas where women are underrepresented and on the other hand targeted career support of highly potential staff from our own university and of those with professional practice.

The aspects of recruiting and promotion of young talents and the integrative approach to implement gender sensitivity in daily processes in teaching and research form the basis of a strategic approach in future equality work at the UAS Kiel.

The long-term goal of the equal opportunities body is the establishment of a “Women’s Academic Career Service” (WACS)” in order to support women’s careers on a structural basis.
