Coronavirus: FAQ for students of the Kiel UAS

Last updated: 06.04.2022 - 15:20 Uhr (new information at the top)

Is it possible for students to record classroom lectures?

The recording of classroom events in sound and image is prohibited!

Such an unauthorised recording violates data protection regulations, the personal rights of the
personal rights of the participants and possibly violates copyrights.

Violation of this prohibition can have serious legal and personal consequences.

Why isn't a mix of face-to-face and online teaching offered?

If both face-to-face and online courses were planned into the lecture schedules, it would be unavoidable that students would have to attend face-to-face courses and then online courses or vice versa. For the online courses, however, students would have to travel home, which would not be possible in terms of time. In other words, it would not be possible to study in this case.

Due to the freedom to attend courses in different semesters or even across degree programmes for interdisciplinary modules, pure attendance or online days would not solve this problem either.

For this reason, the alternative to purely face-to-face teaching would only be to maintain almost purely online teaching, which is not being considered for the reasons mentioned.

Why aren't events broadcast to several lecture halls?

This solution cannot be implemented at Kiel UAS because the spatial conditions do not allow it. We need all the room capacities to enable face-to-face teaching.

What do I have to consider when participating in Zoom events?

The university has created a zoom etiquette for digital courses, which must be observed by participants.
