The Centre for Languages and Intercultural Studies (ZSIK) is a central facility for the University of Applied Sciences Kiel (UAS Kiel). Each semester, it offers numerous modules in different languages, all of which are taught exclusively by “native speakers”.
What do we do?
-We teach our students language and socio-cultural skills and prepare them for a possible semester abroad at one of our partner universities.
-We welcome students from our partner universities abroad and provide language and socio-cultural support during their stay in Kiel.
-We use both large and small events to express our diverse cultures.
-We prepare interested students for internationally recognised language certificates and host or carry out the required examinations.
How do we work?
-with native speakers
-oriented towards everyday, university and business life
-as interactive, authentic and interdisciplinary as possible
-using well-known e-learning platforms, including Moodle and Zoom
-geared to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
-very closely with regional partners, including the Institute for Spanish Language and Culture/Kiel and Institut Français de Kiel
