Do I have to register?

Yes, if you want to borrow print media, you have to register.

Please fill in the Registration Form beforehand and send it to us by e-mail. This saves you time and we can avoid group formation in the library.

On your first visit you should bring your Personal ID and Student ID with you.

You can then take a flyer with all the information about the library.

How do I get any books?

You may browse the shelves in the library or order books online to be collected from the Loan Desk.

Research and orders can be carried out via the Online Catalogue. For this, you must click on the “order” button for your chosen item, and then log into the system using your registration data.

If you want to borrow books when registering, you can send us a list of the book signatures you want in addition to the registration form.

Why can I not renew my borrowing period?

There are several reasons for this:

  • the item is reserved for someone else
  • the item has been renewed five times.
  • there are more than 20.00 € fees to be paid on your account.
  • the usage authorisation has expired and need to be updated.

Does the library cost anything?

Use of the library for students is free of charge. Fees are charged when the borrowing period is exceeded.

How do I get to the library?

We can be found in Building 12. The entrances to the building are on Grenzstrasse and Schwentinestrasse. Please come to the library alone to avoid group formation.

In our digital tour you can view the entrance and obtain useful information about the library.

How long may I borrow books for?

The borrowing period for books is 4 weeks. You can, if necessary, extend this period up to 5 times using your user account.

Can I use a workspace in the library?

There are currently 27 workplaces available that you can reserve. You can find reservation conditions and periods listed under our Corona Information.

How can I use an e-book?

We have linked available e-books in our catalogue. You have the option of viewing this via the WLAN network at the university or downloading it from the comfort of your home via VPN-Access.
