COMBINATION - Comprehensive Mobility Integration

  • Funded by: Gesellschaft für Energie und Klimaschutz Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (EKSH)
  • Funding amount: 149,827.78 €
  • Project term: 01.06.2020 until 31.05.2022
  • Cooperation partner: UAS Kiel | Nahverkehrsverbund Schleswig-Holstein GmbH
  • Website: www.combination-sh.de

The aim of the project is to influence the mobility behaviour of various target groups to become more climate friendly. Special relevance is given to the usage shift from one’s own car to public transportation which results in a significant reduction in co2. The focus of the project is the region of Kiel and Schleswig-Holstein in general.

To reach the project goal, offers that influence the shift as described above need to be examined and developed in a behavioural-oriented manner (concept design), the feasibility analysed (feasibility analysis) and recommended actions derived (implementation plan).

The answering of the following questions will be our focus:

  1. How must mobility offers be designed to attract different target groups and be considered as an alternative for individual vehicle usage?
  2. How can we therefore design suitable offers for different mobility target groups and how would these offers influence mobility behaviour?
  3. Is such an (ideal) intermodal transport system and co2 reducing offer feasible?
  4. What conditions must be met for mobility providers so that they would participate in such a project?
  5. What would a concrete implementation plan for an intermodal transport system with co2 reduction look like in Kiel and the rest of Schleswig-Holstein?

FURGY - CLEAN Innovation

  • Funded by: EU INTERREG V a
  • Funding amount: 3,047,010 €
  • Project term: 7/2015 until 6/2019
  • Cooperation partner: www.furgyclean.eu

Earlier analyses and experiences indicate that collaborations both within and between companies, knowledge institutions and public organisations promote societal productivity. Furthermore, the companies’ accuracy in their innovation processes along with technology development, new products, processes, services and new ways for market penetration is strengthened.

The aim of this subproject was to collect, compare and work on approaches for sustainable development on both sides of the border of corporate entrepreneurship in companies of the clean energy industry. Special focus was given to the entrepreneurial culture as an essential factor for entrepreneurial orientation.

GADOW – German and Danish Offshore Wind

  • Funded by: EU INTERREG IV a
  • Funding amount: 803,609 €
  • Project term: 1/2012 until 6/2015
  • Cooperation partner: www.gadow-offshore.net

In spite of various network activities in the sector of wind energy in Germany as well as in Denmark, there was no Danish-German network that is specially focused on the needs of the offshore wind energy sector. Another deficit is the lacking cross-border transparency of current research projects on the topic of offshore wind energy and its results. Especially for the southern part of Denmark and the northern part of Schleswig-Holstein (Interreg 4a – region) offshore energy is the industry of the future which offers high growth and work potential. Building on a broad analysis, we wanted to create a platform for mutual exchange and therefore push future investments and company foundations.

Public campaign for the three research platforms FINO1, FINO2 and FINO3

  • Funded by: Bundesministerium für Umwelt, Naturschutz und Reaktorsicherheit
  • Funding amount: 191,330 €
  • Project term: 1/2011 until 10/2013

In the January of 2002, the federal government made the decision to create three research platforms for the North and Baltic Sea (FINO), so the government’s strategy of offshore wind energy usage could be implemented. The research platforms FINO1, FINO2 and FINO3 started their operation between the years of 2003 and 2009 in close proximity of large planned offshore wind parks. The aim of the project was the development of a common and strengthened communication policy for all three research platforms so they could be marketed nationally and internationally and their business could be ensured for the future.

A blended learning action research project, integrating social media to build and support peer networking between domestic and international students

  • Funded by: University of the Sunshine Coast, Australia
  • Funding amount: 25,906 $ (AUD)
  • Project term: 02/2013 until 12/2015
  • Cooperation partner: University of the Sunshine Coast (USC), Australia; IUT du Limousin, University of Limoges Brive la Gaillarde, France

The University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) like other Australian universities was dealing with the concurrent and correlated problems of the high value of the Australia currency causing international student attrition of 19.2% at USC (SIAU, 2011). These issues impacted upon the social inclusion of visiting international students. Whilst economic and exchange rate issues were difficult to deal with, research argued the responsibility of higher-education teachers was to re-visit their traditional approaches and develop strategies to help combat social inclusion problems. This industry-based participative action research project was designed to incorporate blended learning strategies of Facebook and SMS to build peer networks.

Family businesses in Germany – an analysis of the economic value and structural distribution

  • Funded by: databyte GmbH
  • Funding amount: approx. 10,000 € (staff and material expenditure)
  • Project term: 09/2012 until 06/2013
  • Cooperation partner: databyte GmbH

Until today, there have been few publications on the business location Germany and its representative results of structural distribution of national family businesses. Some renowned studies are one from the Stiftung Familienunternehmen (2011) and the IfM Bonn. The aim of this investigation was to accumulate more knowledge about the structural distribution of family businesses to draw conclusions about the meaning of this company type for the business location Germany.

Support of cyclical learning through concerted use of simulation games and case study methods throughout the course of studies in the bachelor’s degree in business management and business information systems

  • Funded by: Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Wirtschaft und Verkehr des Landes Schleswig-Holstein, Innovationsfonds für Hochschule und Wissenschaft in Schleswig-Holstein (lnnovationsfonds SH)
  • Funding amount: 24,633 €
  • Project term: 09/2008 until 12/2008

We wanted to design, use and evaluate a university-didactic concept for the combined, consecutively structured and matched usage of simulation games at various stages of the studies. For this, we needed to create, use and evaluate a didactic concept and optimise it gradually. The focus was to be on deployment in presence seminars. Simultaneously, we also wanted to create elements for blended learning, use them selectively (for example in the preparation and parallel supervision of lectures) and evaluate their impact on learning success. The lectures were simultaneously developed and offered in German and English. The situation of simulated companies was to be embedded in newly developed case studies. The case studies were based on real companies, whose sector specific and general business problems were presented clearly. Thereby we wanted to support the networking of knowledge and experiences and lay a broad foundation for the usage of additional methods such as, for example, role plays. A special challenge was the parallel conduct for study groups with more than 100 participants while having a mostly individualised form of teaching.
