Locations and shelfmarks

Where is what located ?

The book holdings of the Central Library are divided intofreely accessible media, the so-called open access holdings, and media that are located in the closed stacks based on various criteria. The designations can also be found in the online catalogue and discovery system of the Central Library as locations.

The open access collection

On the first floor you will find the shelving system with the shelfmarks Ast to Mas as well as the university publications (from 2000). This system is a so-called universal system, i.e. it includes (almost) all subject disciplines. The literature of the departments (civil engineering, social work and health, business administration, computer science and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, media, economics) are united here under one roof. In the catalogue you can recognize a book from this collection by the following shelfmark:

  • Example: Bwl 20-1/1

Overview panels are located at the front of the shelves.
Reference books are marked with a yellow sticker and cannot be borrowed! The latest periodical issues are also located on the first floor.

The shelfmarks Math to Wis are located in the basement.
