Withdrawal from University

De-registration takes place upon application or by operation of law.

For de-registration on application:

Pursuant to Section 43 (2) (1) of the German Law on Institutions of Higher Education and the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (Higher Education Act – HSG) and Section 14 (1) of the Enrolment Regulations of the Kiel University of Applied Sciences (statutes), students can request a withdrawal from study.  

De-registration on requestis only possible via the online application form in "Casy". It is not necessary to hand in the student ID (chip card).

The following documents must be uploaded with the online application form:  

You will not get the certificate on pension insurance (Rentenbescheinigung) and exmatriculation certificate (Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung) before you have submitted the respective certificate of release and it has been signed by the respective offices.

Additionally, the applicant is obliged to destroy every enrolment certificate they have printed and has to inform those authorities which have received enrolment certificates of the withdrawal/exmatriculation.

We emphasise that the misuse of enrolment certificates and student ID (chip card) may result in criminal prosecution.

Information for graduates:

Pursuant to Section 42 (1) of the German Law on Institutions of Higher Education and the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein (Higher Education Act – HSG), a student is exmatriculated after having received the degree certificate relating to the successful completion of studies.

In order for the examination certificate to be issued, students must submit the Certificate of Release to their responsible examination office! Therefore, it is not necessary to submit an online application for de-registration. It is no longer necessary to hand in your student ID.

Subsequently, students receive the de-registration and pension insurance certificate, which is important for them, through the Student Secretariat.

Those who have left the university without a degree or without having submitted an application should contact the Student Secretariat in order to obtain the de-registration and pension insurance certificate.
