ChatGPT
Project title
Establishment and testing of data protection-compliant access to ChatGPT at Kiel University of Applied Sciences
Brief description
Artificial intelligence (AI) has been driving modern technical developments for several years. Kiel University of Applied Sciences has responded to this trend by founding the Virtual Competence Center: Artificial Intelligence and Academic Work (VK:KIWA). One AI tool that has been available on the market for little more than a year is ChatGPT. This tool has revolutionized our society in many ways, as it supports its users quickly and precisely in evaluating available information and thus generating texts within seconds. This could significantly support students, teachers and administrative staff in their work. The aim of this project is to make ChatGPT available to this target group at Kiel University of Applied Sciences and to gain experience of the benefits ChatGPT can have for Kiel University of Applied Sciences. At the same time, it is important to maintain the necessary scientific distance from the AI-generated texts and to take a critical look at the generated texts. Both with regard to the truth content of the AI-generated text and with regard to the strength of argumentation, causality and structure of the text. Against this background, the pilot project will pay particular attention to whether and to what extent ChatGPT users - teachers, administrative staff and students - are sufficiently critical of ChatGPT.
