Data Protection Notice for Citavi Cloud

Citavi 6 allows project data to be stored in a cloud environment.

The Citavi cloud used belongs to the US company QSR International, so that users must carefully consider the choice of storage locations in Citavi. We would like to point out that the data protection laws of the USA are not the same as those of the EU. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that US authorities (e.g. Secret Services) may process, evaluate and permanently store your data located on US servers for monitoring purposes.

By using the Citavi Cloud, you consent to the processing of your personal data.

Students are free to use the Citavi Cloud, but there is no obligation to use it for study-related purposes.

For employees of Kiel University of Applied Sciences, it is recommended not to use Citavi Cloud for processing personal data or security-related information in a professional context.

An exception exists if the use is limited to one's own private data, data without personal reference or one's own professional data, or if it is an exchange of public data with personal reference (e.g. known, official data such as from the people search). In these cases, the use is unobjectionable.

Please note that the cloud function is not suitable for data backup. Local storage of Citavi projects is always possible and recommended. Also bear in mind that access to the data is only possible as long as you are a member of the University of Applied Sciences.
