Business Game - Bachelor’s - TOPSIM General Management

The courses ‘Business Ssimulation’ and ‘Corporate Ppolicy’ are takeing place at the same time. In both seminars students will work in groups. The group formation is takes placehappening during the seminar ‘‚Business Ssimulation‘’. However, both courses are autonomous seminars with specific demands. I will only describe the course ‘‚Business Ssimulation‘’ below. Further information about the course ‘Corporate Ppolicy’ will be communicated by the respective lecturer.

The course ‘‚Business Ssimulation‘’ is not a classical lecture. Within a business simulation, students are supposed to take on the strategic and operative management of a company over several periods. As a result of all actions of the semester, there will beis a share price which will be is compared to competing companies and counted as partial performance of the final grade.

The seminar is consistsing of several partial performances, whose’s separate gradings are combined to a performance percentage. The course is takesing place in the following temporal context:

  • At the beginning there are presence seminars with a mandatory participation in which you will learn about the main features of the seminar, the game connections, the basics of the game interface and the composition of the companies.
  • During 9 game periods (1 test period, 8 graded periods) the companies must make weekly operative decisions according to a detailed schedule, that which will beis graded by the seminar leader. There will beis weekly feedback for the whole market and optional company-specific explanations and discussions with the seminar leader.
  • During the game periods there will be are three other presence seminars:
    • In two presence lectures the companies have different tasks that they need to solve within board meetings and present to the seminar leader afterwards. Each team member will be evaluated separately.
    • After the half of the semester, there will be a graded test about the decision-making competence of the participants.

Students can decide for themselves with which fellow students they want to form a company. The following framework conditions are valid:

  • One company is consistsing of up to four students (limit, there are no exceptions). If more than four students are registered, there iswill be a random selection.
  • Companies with less than four students willare possibly be completed by additional participants.
  • Companies with 2 or 3 members arewill possibly be merged.

To participate, you need to register in https://modulanmeldung.fh-kiel.de.

It is also mandatory for you that toyou register in LMS – at the latest at the beginning of the second seminar.

In this form, you will enter the data of all students that want to build a company together. The completed EXCEL file has to be sent via email to klaus-peter.stuhr(at)fh-kiel.de by ONE team member. If students haven’t found any team members, they can send their file with their own data to the same email address.
