The master’s degree “Journalism and Media Economics” combines the contents of practical training and scientific media content of a master’s study programme, combining practical employment/training in a publishing house with part-time, academic study.
Students can complete their master’s degree in the field of “Journalism and Media Economics” parallel to working in the publishing house. This combination is made possible via distance learning, followed by attendance phases (Blended Learning) and through the integration of daily work as a practical part of the study curriculum.
An optimal study ability parallel to the professional activity is guaranteed.
Furthermore, the best possible combination of journalistic theory and practice is accomplished during the study degree.
The master’s degree “Journalism and Media Economics” is an educational and strongly practice-oriented study degree. Its aim is to teach the methods and content of journalistic and media economical work on a scientific basis.

For the postgraduate master’s degree, the requirements are a completed first study degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Diploma) with at least 180 ECTS (according to the European Credit Transfer System) and an average grade of at least 2.5; employment as a trainee at one of the media companies that has a contract with the UAS Kiel concerning participation in the part-time master’s degree “Journalism and Media Economics”; and proof of one year’s professional employment.
