The gallery, “Bunker-D”, located in the culture and communication center of the University of Applied Sciences Kiel of the same name, is a unique place which offers extraordinary experiences in art and culture via exhibitions that change on monthly basis during the teaching period.
Different from exhibition rooms that typically have pure white walls, the gallery "Bunker-D" stands out for its special ambience. Gray and uneven concrete walls show not only contemporary art, but also tell a story about history.
To this day, slogans from wartime such as: “German! Think and be silent!” or “Pst”!!! Enemy listens” are visible on the masonry which is thick and reinforced with steel.
Consequently for many of the artists showing work in these gallery rooms provides a unique challenge. Often, creations that have been explicitly made for these rooms are presented here for the very first time and strongly emphasize the tension and atmosphere of the location.
In addition to regular exhibitions in the “Bunker-D”, there are also special events in the auditorium of the University.
