New construction for the degree course in Civil Engineering including hall for specific welding procedures

Project description

The newly established bachelor’s degree course in Civil Engineering in winter semester 2018/2019 will be located in two temporary buildings. In the long term, a new construction including all the required laboratories, specialist lecture rooms, offices etc. is planned. It is to be constructed south of Building 6 (Schwentinestraße 7).

Both construction volumes are to be combined in order to benefit from content-related synergies of the new hall construction for specific welding procedures and to exploit the B-plan conditions (see location plan).

The laboratory for welding technology will be established for the degree course in “Offshore Systems Engineering”. The results of the feasibility analysis led to the conclusion that a location at the campus of the UAS Kiel is not feasible. This part of the new construction mainly consists of the welding hall itself and the necessary workshop and storage rooms as well as adjoining rooms for functional and legal purposes.

The welding hall consists of twice the height of the storey and is accessible for heavy devices (trucks, forklifts) through a hall entrance door.
