Prof. Dr. Lorenzen - Supply Chain und Operations Management - Focus: Procurement

Lectures

... in Bachelor’s degrees

  • Supply Chain and Operations Management - Procurement (Bachelor’s)

The focus of this course is a holistic approach to design and control (management) the procurement. Our claim is to understand the procurement market (e.g. the supplier base, its service offering but also its own demand and processes) in its complexity and to organise the offer as well as the demand, the processes and structures (company-related) in a goal-oriented way:

  • The price as a selection criterion is replaced by e.g., Total-Cost-of-Ownership and sustainability aspects.
  • Retrograde quality controls are replaced by a preventive quality management.
  • Instead of an operative purchase that is only placing orders, we practise a strategic purchase that influences the need definition and provides for a hedging of the best supply sources within global sourcing. This kind of purchase is interlinked with a procurement logistics which manage the conflicting goals between minimum inventories, a high level of security and low costs.

Modern procurement assumes an active role in the supply chain self-confident and fairly.

The learning material for the separate lectures is available on the eLearning platform in the course "SCOM - Beschaffung".

... in Master’s degrees

  • Supply Chain and Operations Management – Procurement (Master’s)

This lecture is for students of the non-consecutive degree in Business Management. Although there are some similarities to the bachelor’s course (see above), there are different content and methodical-didactical focuses. After the mediation of basic knowledge, students have the task to process selected topics of procurement marketing within scientific works independently. In the past, the main issues have been, for example, the determination of the economic meaning of procurement in Schleswig-Holstein, the usage of purchasing homepages, the concept “vendor managed inventory”, purchasing cooperation and especially international procurement.

The learning material for the separate lectures is available on the eLearning platform in the course "SCOM Beschaffung".
