My research focuses are media culture science and film and television history. I am currently working on publications about digitisation in the area of cultural education, film politics and stars in the Third Reich, opinion making and propaganda through audio-visual media and recent Danish television dramas. Within applied research, I deal with the development of new television and radio formats in cooperation with the North German media houses and the consequences of digital change for cultural education. As part of the project ‘kultusphäre.sh’ prototypes and solutions for cultural institutions are being developed for this purpose.
In addition to scientific publications, I have presented my research at numerous German and international conferences at universities such as the Philipps Universität Marburg, Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz, Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen, Christian Albrechts Universität zu Kiel, Universität Hamburg, Hochschule der Künste Bern, Universität Flensburg, De Montfort University, Leicester, University of Liverpool, Syddansk Universitet, University of Southern California, Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, University of Glasgow, Northumbria University, University of the Arts London, University of Sunderland, University of Hull, University of Southampton and the University of London.
I am Associate Editor of the technical journals Historical Journal of Film, Radio and Television (Routledge) and Journal of Popular Television (Intellect) and co-editor of the Jahrbuch Immersiver Medien (Schüren). Additionally, I am a reviewer for Academic Quarter / Akademisk Kvarter: tidsskrift for humanistisk forskning (Aarhus Universitet, Denmark). Since 2013, I have been a council member at the International Association for Media and History.
